"In reflecting on the past year, I am struck by how much we have learned about resilience and the power of community. Northwest Youth Corps was not immune to the challenging impacts and upheaval in our social and economic systems over the last three years. Like so many, we struggled, experimented, occasionally screamed into the void, but ultimately we were fortunate to have persevered. And in 2022, we started another year on solid ground due to the dedication of our staff and support from you - partners, agencies, and individual and institutional funders. We are surrounded by a constituency of remarkable stakeholders who share our passion for our youth, our communities, and our planet."
Jeff Parker, Executive Director
Dear Friends,
In reflecting on the past year, I am struck by how much we have learned about resilience and the power of community. Northwest Youth Corps was not immune to the challenging impacts and upheaval in our social and economic systems over the last three years. Like so many, we struggled, experimented, occasionally screamed into the void, but ultimately, we were fortunate to have persevered. And in 2022, we started another year on solid ground due to the dedication of our staff and support from you – partners, agencies, and individual and institutional funders. We are surrounded by a constituency of remarkable stakeholders who share our passion for our youth, our communities, and our planet.
In 2022, we added an entirely new program – the Community Wildfire Protection Corps, dedicated to preventing destruction from wildfires in high-risk communities while training the climate workforce of tomorrow. We moved into an office space in downtown Tacoma for our growing operations in Washington. We welcomed a new Deputy Director, Kate Oborski, and a new Philanthropy Director, Hap Clemons. All the while, we stayed laser-focused on providing a rewarding conservation stewardship experience to nearly 700 young people across the Northwest.
Our resilience comes from our dedication to our mission. We attract incredibly talented people who want to have a generational impact. We earn the support of people like you, who share our commitment to this effort. Donors have provided a platform for us to thrive amidst the challenges and distractions of the past three years. Donors will continue to help bring transformational change to our organization and our community.
I hope you will join us on this journey by making a contribution to help us grow our impact and increase the margin of our excellence.
Thank you for supporting our mission!
Sincerely,
Jeff Parker
Executive Director
