Howdy All! Thank you for checking in to see what your youthful teen (Hereafter referred to as Corpsmember) is up to out there in the field. NYC strives to keep the flow of information to you parents or guardians on a solid pace, that being said, you are receiving privileged information. We ask that when these updates include information on what your Corpsmembers’ crew is doing for the next week, you help us maintain the suspense and tradition of crews not knowing what project they have next. So, if they call you on Fridays or Saturdays, if you can keep that info to yourself we can keep that tradition alive.

Thank you for being a part of the magic!

Red CrewThis Past Week (10/3/2011): Red Crew was out and about tearing up scotchbroom and gorse, pulling out European Beachgrass, and tromping up and down the sand dunes near Floras and Lost lakes in the Coos Bay area. They have improved the beaches of Oregon ten fold with the work that they have accomplished out there.

This Upcoming Week (10/9/2011): Red Crew will be heading out to make some new trail in the Willamette National Forest area. They have some rock to move and some trail to build in a beautiful place!

Orange CrewThis Past Week (10/3/2011):Orange Crew was spending some time near the North Spit unit north of the town of North Bend. They were eradicating scotchbroom and gorse on the wild beaches of Oregon and taking in the sights of the pacific ocean all week. There were some great sunsets and sunrises out there this week. Way to go Orange!

This Upcoming Week (10/9/2011): Orange crew will be out near the Tiller Ranger Dist. doing some service to the trails in that area. They have a hike into their project that is pretty awesome.

Yellow CrewThis Past Week (10/3/2011) Yellow Crew was pumping out brand new trail out on the Salmon Creek Gorge this week. They have been working on a spectacular rock cribbing switchback near the start of this project and laying down tread as fast as they can on those hills. It is an amazing projects and they have been doing a great job out there.

This Upcoming Week (10/9/2011): Yellow Crew will be doing some of this and some of that near the Eugene area this coming week. They have a dreamy project that will not disappoint their expectations!

Blue CrewThis Past Week (10/3/2011) Blue Crew was heading up the effort out at Shotgun Creek, a little bit of tread, and a little bit of this and that. They had a smorgasbord of projects this last week and were “killing it” as they like to put it. The project site itself is a great mix of the Northwest environs and they had a great time of it out there.

This Upcoming Week (10/9/2011): Blue Crew will be taking in the sights of the Oregon coast this coming week. They will have a great camp set up and an awesome view of the coastline.
