AYUN ITU PERKAKAS!
(SWING THAT TOOL!)

From: Ted Kulongoski, Jr.

NYC: 1996
Positions: Rover (first summer session); Co-Crew Leader Teens and Trails (second summer session); Crew Leader with Youth Forest Camp in Ochocos (two-weeks); Crew Leader (Fall Session)

"Just to let you know the extent that NYC work has impacted my life, I've included a photo of a project that I'm working on right now in the rural communities of Aceh province, Indonesia. Aceh province took the full impact of the Dec. 2004 tsunami which devastated most of the coastal communities. I’m here right now with International Relief & Development (IRD) re-establishing village water systems and sanitation facilities. As you can imagine, in the rural areas there are no backhoes, so all the new pipe installing is done by hand – which means a heck of a lot of digging. Being none to afraid of a few blisters, I’m always ready to grab a hoe, rock bar or shovel and lend a hand (even if its pouring down rain)!

AYUN ITU PERKAKAS! (Translated from Indonesian: SWING THAT TOOL!)"
