Northwest Youth Corps is looking for an energetic, outgoing, detailed oriented individual to join our Marketing and Community Relations Team as a Youth Service Coordinator. The Youth Services Coordinator will assist in the processing and enrollment of youth for Northwest Youth Corps programs. This position is a full time position with benefits. NYC is a highly successful organization providing education, employment, and personal development opportunities for teenage youth and young adults. Northwest Youth Corps mission is provide opportunities for youth and young adults to learn grow and experience success.
The right person will have the experience to help the Marketing and Community Relations department with enrollment of applicants including the tracking of interactions with youth, parents, other organizations and the general public. The flow of data and tracking of member information and inventory, and calling/emailing parents and youths will be the primary responsibility of the Youth Services Coordinator.

Northwest Youth Corps is located in Eugene, Oregon; an exciting, beautiful city of 150,000. With a multitude of outdoor recreational activities, it is located approximately 70 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 80 miles from superb downhill and cross-country skiing. It is home to the University of Oregon, the world-class Hult Center for the Performing Arts, and numerous other amenities available in a vibrant and diverse university community. The quality of life in Eugene and the surrounding Willamette Valley is truly extraordinary.
Organizational Background
Northwest Youth Corps (NYC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to youth development though teamwork, education, and challenge. Several programs operate from Northwest Youth Corps. NYC’s accredited Outdoor High School located at NYC headquarters emphasizes hands-on learning, applied sciences; work on conservation projects and academics. Currently, fifty students are enrolled. The Youth Corps program offers challenging outdoor leadership programs from early March through Mid-October for over 800 youth ages 14-19. Youth Corps operates in Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Arizona, and Northern California. The program combines an educational component for high school credit with leadership training and conservation service projects. In addition, NYC’s mission is supported by over 50 AmeriCorps members each year in a variety of positions. NYC's 28-year history of success has been made possible by a broad-base of support from individuals, government agencies, businesses, and community organizations.
Position Summary
The Youth Services Coordinator primary responsibility will be customer service, recruitment, outreach, and database entry. The majority of the responsibility is working with parents and youth on the phone to ensure that they have a positive well informed experience with Northwest Youth Corps. This individual will work closely with the Director of Marketing & Community Relations.
Areas of Responsibility
Assist in answering the phones for the office and other responsibilities as assigned.
Assist in the recruitment, application, processing, database management and all related aspects of youth placement by the youth services team and working with Youth while out in the field.
Appropriately utilize databases, website and other materials to rapidly and accurately process youth applicants, achieve goals, monitor progress and provide current and accurate data and results.
Aid in tracking scholarships and incoming tuition funds in a fiscally prudent manner.
Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Education / Experience
Education –At least two years of college education.Bachelors Preferred. Experience working in an office setting preferably with large volumes of information or tracking. Database training, specifically Microsoft Access is highly desirable.
Experience - Candidates must have a strong interest in NYC’s goals, the ability to work as a team member, a sense of humor and an appreciation of the outdoors. Previous experience which demonstrates organizational skills, the ability to perform at a consistently high level under pressure, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously will all be skills necessary to succeed in this position. A strong set of computer skills and database experience are required. In addition, the successful candidate must posses a valid driver’s license and clean driving record as some travel will be required.
Terms of Employment
This is a full time hourly position. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with some weekends during the field season or as assigned. We are willing to be somewhat flexible with schedules during certain seasons (required to work full time during the summer season).
Compensation
$9.50 - $11.50 DOE
