How You Can  Help

What is Northwest Youth Corps?
Northwest Youth Corps (NYC) is a region-wide nonprofit and a nationally recognized leader in the youth development field, which helps youth and young adults to learn, grow, and experience success. Through a combination of service, training, education, and employment, NYC participants protect, restore and enhance public lands and waterways throughout the Northwest.

More importantly, NYC helps young people gain personal and professional skills needed to become educated and active citizens and the future workforce.  In addition to a paycheck, NYC participants can earn high school credit, solid job reference, and/or a scholarship which pays for post-secondary education. Help the “leaders of tomorrow” with your gift today.

Campaign Idaho

In 2015, Northwest Youth Corps is planning to create a new base of operations in Idaho.  Operations of this new location (similar to our Wenatchee, WA facility) will allow us to serve more youth in the region, as well as increase our impact on Idaho trails, weed eradication, and wildfire prevention. Finally a new center will allow us to increase local awareness about Northwest Youth Corps.

If you are invested in the state of Idaho its quality of life, natural resources, and opportunities for young people to thrive for years to come please consider making a one-time gift or ongoing to our Idaho campaign, to help us cover the costs of warehouse and office space, equipment, and start-up personnel. Please write “Idaho” on your envelop or in the memo field on your on-line gift. Thank you!

Center for Conservation Education Fund

Friends of NYC know of our long-time efforts to transform the former Laurel Valley Elementary School into a welcoming and engaging Center For Conservation Education. Your support at this time helps NYC create and install a series of compelling and interactive exhibits which will 1) allow visitors to explore all of the many youth outcomes and facets of NYC’s history and programs; 2) illustrate the historical role that young adults have played in natural resource conservation; 3) introduce visitors to the vast range of habitats found in the Pacific Northwest; and 4) inspire youth and visitor involvement through volunteering, participating, and donating.

The Fred Meyer Fund and Kroger Co. Foundation will match the first $5,000 we raise for this project! If you want your donation to specifically benefit our educational displays, please write “displays” in the notes line. Thank you!

“Northwest Youth Corps taught me much more than just how to build, fix and maintain trails; it taught me how to be a leader, how to take initiative and how to push myself.  I now can take the things NYC gave me and apply it to my life and what I have planned for my future.”
