Free Emigrant Road

NYC received notice from the Oakridge Westfir Pioneer Museum that we will continue to work together in 2005 in support of the 'Free Emigrant Road'. Recently, the Museum was informed that it is the recipient of a $4,750 grant from the Oregon Historic Trails Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation. Funds will be used to locate, survey and permanently mark the 'Free Emigrant Road' through the Oakridge area. NYC’s Outdoor High School students will assist a professional surveyor in locating the ' Free Emigrant Road ' from several 1857 Cadastral maps. The students will build and place about 20 monuments from Hills Creek Dam to the Middle Fork Ranger station.
